Review on La Favorita
Nestled in Edinburgh's Leith Walk, La Favorita, a log-fired pizzeria and pasta gourmet, has certainly become 'The Favourite' Italian restaurant in town. Already renowned as selling 'The best pizza in Edinburgh', owner Tony Crolla has set himself the formidable task of creating the best pizzeria in Britain. The restaurant is fitted out in a chic, contemporary style - epitomising modern Italian sophistication and style.
Whilst the menu certainly does deserve its accolades, with innovative and exciting pizzas such as 'Fiorentina' (tomato sauce, mozzarella, rocket leaves, sliced scotch sirloin beef, shaved parmesan and a touch or reduced balsamic vinegar) and 'Crudo e fichi' (Tomato sauce, mozzarella, Parma ham, fresh figs and stracchino cream), it would be a mistake to overlook La Favorita's other offerings. The pasta dishes are particularly delicious with treats such as 'Pappardelle alla Boscaiola' (fresh pasta with a wild boar and mushroom sauce).
The impressive and exciting menu is finished off with an excellent wine list showcasing the best of Italian wine.
