Review on Morblas Seafood and Grill, Hilton Glasgow
Towering above Glasgow city centre, the magnificent polished-granite and mirrored-glass Hilton has become something of a local landmark over the years. Not surprisingly, superb views are one of its assets.
Their fine dining restaurant Morblas which is derived from the Gaelic words for "Great" and "Taste" offers modern dishes in a smart contemporary environment. The kitchen serves contemporary European cuisine and seafood based around prime Scottish produce. In classic vein you might find the likes of beef Wellington and lobster Thermidor, but it pays to go for something a touch more adventurous – say, mussels and queen scallops in puff pastry with braised leeks or roast saddle of Rannoch Moor venison with parsnip dauphinoise, Savoy cabbage, lentils and smoked bacon. Finish with a boozy dessert such as Drambuie and vanilla crème brûlée or Glenmorangie and orange parfait.
