Review on Two Fat Ladies City Centre
Now a small group of four, 2005 saw the opening of the second restaurant of Two Fat Ladies, ideally located in the city centre of Glasgow. Originally founded by restaurateur Ryan James in 2004, Two Fat Ladies refers to the bingo nickname for the number 88. Occupying slightly larger premises than its older sibling, it has a modern design, with an attractive piscine theme from the metalwork on the windows displaying fish moving through the wavy lines.
Fresh seafood is the name of the game, but there are some tasty choices for carnivores on the menu as well. To start you might go for St James' smoked salmon, pickled cucumber, caper dressing and quail's egg or maybe the roasted artichoke, basil and feta salad, sundried tomato oil. Daily changing fish platters are always a popular choice, alongside favourites such as king prawns, scallops, squash puree and grilled chorizo or fillet of scotch beef, mushroom and shallot jus. Desserts bring on board delights in the shape of lemon cheesecake on a shortbread base with a white chocolate sauce or sticky toffee pudding with crème anglaise.
The Two Fat ladies is a popular venue for diners visiting the nearby King's Theatre as they offer an excellent pre-theatre menu.
