Review on Haz
An up-and-coming destination for the City crowd, this new branch of Haz is gaining a name for its authentic Turkish food and boisterous animated atmosphere. The dining room is laid out like an upmarket canteen with serried ranks of long tables against a backdrop of plate glass, and the enticing aroma of char-grilling fills the air.
The long menu kicks off with an adventurous choice of cold and hot mezze ranging from enginar (artichokes braised in olive oil with dill) and ezme (crushed chillies with red onions and tomatoes) to ciger tava (sautéed lamb's liver with parsley and sumak).
High-protein grills are the mainstays when it comes to main courses, although you can also get heartwarming casseroles such as armutlu kuzu tandir (poached diced lamb with cinnamon pears); fish fans and vegetarians are well served with - say - red mullet wrapped in vine leaves or meatless moussaka. The food is backed by an extensive wine list including a few Turkish names, alternatively opt for refreshing Efes beer.
