Review on Taberna Etrusca
An attractive courtyard makes this long-running City Italian Taberna Etrusca a favourite when the sun shines and tables here are at a premium. Since 1967, it has been setting out its stall in a pretty enclave, evoking the mood of a genuine trattoria with its tiled floors, decorative Tuscan tiles on the textured white walls and collection of Ferrari posters.
The kitchen works within the traditional repertoire, producing classic pasta, meat and fish, rounded off by a trolley-load of desserts. Signature dishes include spaghetti Enzo (with strips of fillet steak, garlic, chilli and tomato) and medaglioni di bue Etrusca (beef medallions cooked with Italian smoked bacon, croûtons and Madeira sauce).
The main menu is bolstered by frequently changing specials highlighting seasonal produce such as asparagus and spring lamb. Added to this is an all-Italian wine list covering all the regions, plus a serious choice of Grappas.
