Review on Polpo
Situated in the heart of Covent Garden, Polpo is the third restaurant from Russell Norman and Richard Beatty. This trendy eatery is styled on a Venetian wine bar, and like its siblings features a tin ceiling from New York, bare light filaments, antique maps from Venice and old chemistry lab benches serve as tables with church pews and Dutch school chairs.
The menu features a series of plates, employing high-quality ingredients for seasonal cuisine with a thumping Italian pulse. Choose potato and parmesan crocchetta or chicken liver crostino from the Cicheti selection or asparagus, taleggio, speck or the popular beef and port meatballs. For dessert the Nutella pizzetta is a winner or there's Neal Yard's cheese if you prefer something savoury. There is a small concise list of Italian wines together with a selection of cocktails.
A fourth restaurant Spuntino has opened at 61 Rupert Street in Soho in the style of New York Italian diner.
