Review on Cullen Bay Hotel
Standing on the site of Farksane House - once home to the lairds of Gordon - this seventeenth-century residence was converted into a hotel in 1924, and now operates as a congenial family-run set-up. It sits up on a hillside overlooking Cullen Bay and its 'singing sands', with magnificent views stretching across to Moray Firth.
The traditionally appointed Verandah Restaurant makes the most of the views and provides a relaxed setting for food with a traditional Scottish accent. Expect the likes of Cullen skink, herb-crusted sea bass or medallions of beef with black pudding, mealie pudding and haggis served with a Drambuie-laced jus. Round off with cranachan rice pudding or something from the sweet trolley.
