Portofino Ristorante Italiano is a well-liked restaurant in Droitwich Spa in Worcestershire, just five minutes from Junction 5 of the M5. Inside it been tastefully done out in chic neutral tones with a contemporary décor, tables are well laid with crisp linen and the whole affair has an inviting ambience.

The restaurant boasts an extensive menu featuring both modern and classic Italian dishes, as well as daily specials according to market availability. On the carte look for Scottish smoked salmon with mascarpone cream, onions marmalade and roast peppers or pork spare ribs in a rich barbecue homemade sauce amongst the starters. Main courses pick up the theme with medallion of fillets pan fried in a wild mushroom and finished with cream and truffle oil or pan fried veal scallops in a white wine and gorgonzola cheese sauce and served with grilled polenta. To close the show there are traditional desserts in the shape of crème brûlée or tiramisu.

The concise wine list keeps its prices in check and offers a decent range by the glass, and there's a well-crafted cocktail menu on offer.
