Review on Creel Restaurant
Dunbar's atmospheric harbour is just a stone's throw from this friendly neighbourhood restaurant owned and run by chef/proprietor Logan Thorburn, and the kitchen naturally makes good use of the catch from local fishing boat 'Homarus' for many of its dishes.
Thorburn's training with Rick Stein and Michelin-starred John Campbell at the Vineyard, Stockcross shows in his attitude to freshness and locality, and he puts great store by his trusted suppliers. On the fish front, diners can expect carefully wrought dishes ranging from steamed langoustines with homemade mayonnaise to baked fillet of North Atlantic cod with a summer casserole of fennel, leeks, merguez sausage and saffron.
Otherwise, take a different route for, say, cauliflower cappuccino with curry leaves and sesame oil, char-grilled Aberdeen Angus ribeye with big chips, pannacotta with wild berries or a duo of Scottish cheeses. The short wine list offers sound drinking at fair prices.
