Review on Mourne Seafood Bar
The Mountains of Mourne provide an atmospheric backdrop to this enterprising seafood bar in the pretty village of Dundrum. It’s a no-frills kind of place with wooden floors and functional wooden furniture, but the atmosphere crackles.
Mussels, cockles and oysters from the owners’ beds in Carlingford Lough are the star turns; the rest of the catch is delivered daily from the ports of Annalong and Kilkeel. As well as molluscs and bivalves every which way (look for the mighty mixed platters), you could opt for crab claws with Thai mayonnaise, smoked salmon on wheaten bread, seafood pasta in white wine and garlic sauce or ‘surf and turf’ " not forgetting grilled goats’ cheese, chicken Caesar salad and locally reared sirloin steaks with all the trimmings. There’s a second branch on Bank Street, Belfast.
