Review on Ealing Park Tavern

Founded by brothers Tom and Ed Martin in 2000, the very successful ETM group have recently added the Ealing Park Tavern to their critically acclaimed portfolio of pubs and restaurants, which also includes amongst others, The Botanist and Chiswell Street Dining Rooms. The imposing mock-Tudor mansion has undergone an extensive restoration programme and now sports a smart baronial style, complete with mounted heads and antlers adorning the walls. The pub still retains all of the traditional charm that secured its place in the London Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors with new ornate oak panelling, leather armchairs in cosy snugs and beautiful bay windows, exposed brick work and decorative wrought ironwork.

Tracing its history back to 1728 when the site operated as the Lewis Furnell Brewhouse until the mid 1800s, Ealing Park Tavern is bringing back the art of brewing with its own on site microbrewery. Brewing bitters and pale ales as well as special seasonal additions, the microbrewery will provide its wares direct to the bar, with the pubs Brewmaster on hand for tastings, tutorials and beer and food matching dinners.

Freshness and quality are fundamental to the food and carefully sourced British produce from trusted suppliers forms the backbone of the menu. On the food front, expect deftly executed, pleasing pub fare whose blue-collar reference is a pie of the day with mash and liquor. There are traditional roasts, steaks and suckling pig too, while more adventurous types might fancy pork belly, tripe and white bean cassoulet with fennel jam or artichoke tortellini with roasted Jerusalem artichokes and sprout leaves. Sticky toffee fondant paired with cornflake milk sorbet makes a sweet-toothed finale, or you might prefer something zingily refreshing like lemon verbena posset, served with garibaldi biscuit.

Also on offer are tasty bar snacks in the shape of chilli squid, lobster mac n cheese and venison Scotch egg, HP. Knowledgeable staff, a pleasant buzz, affordable fines wines and a cracking selection of craft beers from the likes of Pressure Drop, Weird Beard and Hardknott makes the Ealing Park Tavern hit all the right notes.
