Review on The Brown Cow
Formerly Manson which took its name its name from the successful owner of the gastro pub Sand's End Eamon Manson, the restaurant has morphed into a gastro-pub like its Fulham sibling and is now called The Brown Cow. The dining room has had a small face-lift, but much of the original restaurant remains with its simple, modern but rustic interior featuring wood floors and tables.
Impeccable ingredients are very much to the fore with The Brown Cow offering pub classics and a seasonal menu in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. You can dine at a table or sit at the bar and enjoy some bar snacks while sipping a traditional ale.
Up-to-the minute ideas and ingredients point up the modern menu so expect snacks such as pig cheek and lentil stew or hand cut fillet steak tartare, with main courses of roast salmon fillet, vegetable cassoulet or braised lamb shank with garlic mash and green beans. To finish who could resist apple and mixed berry crumble with blackcurrant sorbet or saffron poached pear with vanilla rice pudding and Chantilly cream.
There is a well considered wine list to complement the food together with a good selection of real ales.
