Review on Locale
Like the original in Blackheath SE3, the Fulham branch of Locale is aimed deliberately at the local populus - it's a good-looking neighbourhood Italian restaurant with two dining areas and a cocktail bar for drinks and stuzzichini; exposed brickwork, antique mirrors and pleated wallpaper set the tone, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out onto the terrace.
The kitchen puts its faith in Italian ingredients and authentic Italian recipes for a repertoire of dishes with regional overtones. Stinco d'agnello (roast lamb shank with mash) and filleto di branzino all'acquapazza (sea bass with fish broth, cherry tomatoes and croûtons) are specialities, but the menu also runs to fresh pappardelle with duck ragù, osso buco and roast salmon fillet on spinach with balsamic dressing. Pizzas are also available, along with some creamy desserts and ice creams.
The carefully chosen, mainly Italian wine list is bolstered by a monthly selection of guest bottles from boutique vineyards. There are other branches at County Hall, Belvedere Road SE1, and at Dulwich, 58-60 East Dulwich Road.
