Review on Connemara Coast Hotel
Spectacularly situated on the shores of Galway Bay, 10 minutes' drive from Galway city, this luxurious hotel makes the most of great views of the Burren and the Aran Islands. Formal evening meals are served in the Gallery and Daly's Restaurant, both of which have good views; choose the Gallery if you enjoy live piano music while you eat.
Seafood is a big player on the regularly changing menus (tempura prawns with Tequila and lime dip, monkfish with fennel and tomato fondue, for example); otherwise, look for meat dishes like rack of local lamb or slow-cooked belly of pork with aubergine caviar and aniseed jus.
The two restaurants are not suitable for children under 16, but families can take advantage of the Players cocktail bar and the hotel's own pub ('Sin Sceal Eile') where traditional music gigs are held on selected evenings. The hotel also has excellent crèche and play facilities.
