Review on The Park House Hotel & Restaurant
A three-storey grain warehouse provides the stone-clad skeleton for this popular, privately run hotel in the centre of Galway not far from the Spanish Square and the City Museum. Formal meals are served in the elegant, softly lit Park Room restaurant, which is bedecked with canvases of old Galway.
You might begin with a plate of Kinvara organic smoked salmon or half a dozen native Clarenbridge oysters before something old-school like Parmesan-coated veal on wild mushrooms with Madeira jus or a ‘duet’ of peppered beef fillet and Dublin Bay prawns in Thermidor sauce. Sweets might include bread-and-butter pudding, and the 90-bin wine list casts its net across ten countries (check out the bottles from the William Cole Vineyard in Casablanca Valley, Chile).
If you fancy just a drink and a snack, try the atmospheric Boss Doyles Bar, with its oak-panelled ceilings and stained-glass windows. Note that the Park House Hotel provides secure valet parking for residents.
