Review on Positano Restaurant
Formerly Olivetto, the restaurant has changed hands and is now the Positano Restaurant, located in front of the Guildhall on Guildford High Street in a building dating back to Elizabethan times, thought to have originally been the Town Mayor's house. The interior oozes history with its heavy beams, wood floors and windows overlooking the street. There's also seating outside for warm-weather dining.
The kitchen keeps things traditional using fresh and natural ingredients for a menu specialising in southern Italian cuisine. Diners can expect classic dishes such as mussels cooked in tomato with wine and chilli sauce, served with crostini bread or beef carpaccio with rocket, parmesan shaving and lemon amongst the starters. Following on there's an excellent selection of salads, pizzas, pastas and risottos or meat dishes in the shape of medallions of veal served with a gorgonzola cheese sauce served with a salad garnish and rosemary potatoes and fish choices that includes their popular Spada alla Positano, swordfish, mussels, black olives, garlic, cherry tomatoes, mixed aromatic herbs, white wine served with mixed crushed potatoes and leeks. To finish enjoy a traditional Italian dessert of pannacotta or crème brulee.
