Review on The Restaurant at Lythe Hill
The Restaurant at Lythe Hill in Haslemere is housed in a luxury timbered Tudor country house hotel, set in 22 acres in the picturesque Surrey Hills. The resplendence of the hotel permeates through to the elegant 15th-century oak-panelled dining room, or further dining is available in the new room overlooking the ornamental lake and beautiful grounds.
The modern menu changes regularly in tune with the seasons, and the carefully sourced produce is meticulously selected from trusted local suppliers.
To start you might choose seared scallops, creamy polenta, crab and sweet corn croquette, picked Shimeli mushrooms and sherry jus or foie gras and ham hock terrine, toasted brioche, poached blackberries, Muscat jelly and port syrup. Main courses offer dishes such as slow cooked suckling pig, solo garlic, Savoy cabbage, salt baked celeriac, pickled carrots, lemon and ginger jus or fillet of sea bass, macaroni, samphire, confit tomato and sauce bouillabaisse. There are tempting desserts to finish in the shape of peanut butter and chocolate terrine, orange Chantilly, candied peanuts and salt caramel ice cream or passion fruit mousse, confit pineapple, lime meringue, coffee crumble, and pineapple sorbet.
