Review on Bleeding Heart
Voted by "The Times" as the City's most romantic restaurant and one of the very finest French restaurants in the whole of London, The Bleeding Heart off Holborn Circus is really four venues in one: the Restaurant, Bistro, Tavern and Crypt. Commitment to the highest standards pervades all four.
Hidden away in a yard that is slightly off the beaten track in Farringdon, this excellent French venue is definitely worth the trek. The restaurant is undoubtedly one of the most romantic venues in London - it is subtly lit with a warm, cosy feel that is a welcome haven during the dreary winter months. The dining room chairs are comfortable and the linen tablecloths a crisp white. Neatly-arranged framed pictures of fruit adorn the pastel walls.
The ambience can seem a bit stiff and formal as the restaurant attracts suited and booted lawyers and businessmen from the City, but they are privy to the Bleeding Heart secret: this is Gallic fare at its very best at not too controversial prices. Chef Julian Marshall does not compromise on quality. The steak never fails to impress and specialities such as the lobster are amazing.
For an alternative dining experience, breakfast is available at The Tavern from 7.30 to 10.30am Monday to Friday, serving both continental and full English breakfasts, or the Bistro offers a cheaper, more informal option. Private functions can be arranged in their unique venue, The Crypt.
