Review on Contrast Brasserie
The Glenmoriston Town House is one of Scotland's top hotels, situated in a leafy quarter of Inverness with charming views of the River Ness. It's also home to the Contrast Brasserie with it's smart contemporary décor, and on Friday and Saturday nights the resident pianist tinkling in the background adds to the inviting ambience.
The regularly changing menus are shot through with impeccably sourced Scottish ingredients, with the a la carte changing quarterly to reflect the seasons and the set lunch and pre-theatre menus changing weekly to ensure the very best of market availability. Among the list of starters you might find scallops, roast celeriac, black pudding crumb and Granny Smith apple or Scottish wood pigeon, granola, blueberries and charred shallot. Main courses pick up on the regional theme witness roast loin of Ardgay venison, cauliflower, roast squash and haggis skirlie. Desserts promise tempting offerings in the shape of a dark chocolate mousse, lemon curd, smoked sea salt, chocolate soil and crème fraiche sorbet or the salt baked pineapple, Malibu zabaglione, brandy snap and mint granita.
To accompany the food there's a carefully compiled wine list, cocktails, a whisky bar featuring 260 malts and over 30 gins from around the globe.
