Review on Château La Chaire
Built in 1843 as a private mansion on the sunny slopes of Rozel Bay, with terraced gardens overlooking the bay and its lively fishing community, this elegant luxury hotel now offers relaxed comfort in a lavish setting of ornate plasterwork, antiques and original paintings.
Meals in the oak-panelled restaurant have an Anglo-French flavour, witness dishes such as venison terrine with mulled wine jelly and pain d'épice ice cream, pan-fried fillet of sea bass with olive crushed potato and Provençal braised octopus, and crème brûlée.
Al fresco summer lunches are served on the terrace from 12.00 – 2.00pm: expect anything from an assortment of open sandwiches to crispy confit of duck with Puy lentils and thyme jus or wild mushroom risotto.
