Review on Junction Tavern
The address is Fortress Road in Kentish Town, but you'll find the entrance to the Junction Tavern round the corner on Lady Somerset Road. Once inside you can take your pick from the bar with its leather sofas, dark panelling and pillars, the airy conservatory at the back or the heated beer garden; alternatively, if you fancy something to eat, you might prefer the dining area overlooking the street.
Whatever you choose, the daily-changing menu will provide plenty of eclectic gastro pub food at fair prices. Among the possibilities on offer, there might be grilled sardines with sourdough garlic toast, slow-roast leg of organic lamb with Greek salad and rosemary roast potatoes or seared blue fin tuna with soba noodles, miso and seaweed broth. There's Tuscan bread to start the ball rolling, and desserts like French apple tart with crème fraîche or Valrhona chocolate mousse to round things off (the cheeses from La Fromagerie in Highbury are also worth checking out).
The wine list is a youthful collection of good-value bottles and the pub is noted for its real ales (they hold seasonal beer festivals, too).
