Review on Kew Grill

Kew Grill, one of the two remaining AWT Grills that has survived the 'downturn' axe, this venue is continuing to feed the faithful in the leafy enclaves of Kew Green. The philosophy of well-hung and well-aged steaks still applies (35 days is the current standard), and Anthony Worrall Thompson stands by his crusading commitment to rare breeds, organic production and home-grown vegetables.

Prime Aberdeen Angus steaks really are the first choice - butchered, trimmed and grilled to order, and served with chunky hand-cut chips, béarnaise sauce or a choice of butters. Burgers look tempting, too; otherwise, try AWT’s home-reared Middle White suckling pig with apple chilli jelly or Ark Farm 100-day free-range chicken on grilled vegetables with roast garlic and herb dressing.

To start, there’s fried chilli squid with garlic and spring onion or a nifty ‘Kew Grill Platter’ comprising smoked salmon and egg mayonnaise, avocado and jumbo prawns and potted shrimps, and there are few workaday desserts to round things off.
