Review on The Pink Elephant
Recently re-opened after a major refurbishment, the Pink Elephant is famed for its hilltop setting and its unrivalled views of Courtmacsherry Bay. It's a casual, welcoming kind of place, where you can drop in for anything from a cup of coffee to a full three-course meal (often to the accompaniment of tinkling piano music).
The kitchen deals in straightforward, unfussy bistro cooking, taking in Ummera smoked salmon salad with dill crème fraîche, braised belly of pork and pan-fried Barbary duck with pickled ginger, cabbage and pommes Anna. To finish, there are equally familiar desserts like chocolate mousse or sticky orange cake.
