Review on The Pier Head Bar & Restaurant
There are views of the harbour and Dunguaire Castle from the front of this highly popular and greatly loved bar and restaurant in the picturesque fishing village of Kinvara. From other vantage points you can also gaze out over Kinvara Bay.
Mike Burke is a popular and well-known host, who has given the lively bar a distinct maritime theme: this is just the spot if you fancy a drink and bowl of steamed local mussels. Nautical prints and photos also festoon the simply appointed dining room, where visitors can look forward to a menu of broadly based international dishes. Fish is a major attraction, and the kitchen delivers anything from feuilletι of mixed seafood to blackened Cajun salmon. Steaks are also big sellers (perhaps served with black pudding and mustard sauce), while other options might include suprκme of chicken surrounded by crab claws with lobster sauce.
