Review on The Boot in Lapworth
Set in 'the delightful windy roads of Warwickshire', this 'tremendously fab, posh country pub' is an appealing mix of exposed timbers, quarry-tiled floors and rustic chic, with a revamped upstairs dining room and delightful grounds running down to the towpath (it's near the junction of the Grand Union and Stratford upon Avon canals).
The Boot was one of the first country pubs in the area to go down the foodie path, and it has been plying its gastro trade for more than a decade. Menus have a global edge, taking in everything from free-range egg with bubble and squeak or gammon with mash and parsley sauce to Thai crab cakes, lamb kofta and spit-roast chicken with aïoli, lemon and fries.
Sharing plates of mezze and the like are great for grazing, and there's a decent selection of upmarket sandwiches too. The food is matched by an exciting choice beers and wines from around the globe.
