Review on Dough Bistro
A remarkable place, out in the suburbs of Leeds, that looks a bit like a newsagent's from the outside. In fact Dough was originally a bakery/deli (hence the name), but it's now a bare-boarded, rustic brick-walled neighbourhood bistro offering great-value evening meals. There's not much space and dressed-down conviviality prevails – but you need to book well ahead to be sure of a table.
What you can expect is a no-frills, fixed-price menu with a, easy-going European accent: sautéed chicken livers with Marsala sauce, fillet of lamb with rosemary and port sauce, then lemon cheesecake with raspberry coulis, for instance. The value for money is remarkable – and it's bolstered by Dough's no corkage, BYO drinks policy; there's a handy off-licence opposite. Note:no credit cards.
