Review on Little Tokyo
A huge an inexpensive treat for fans of sushi, noodles and all things Japanese, Little Tokyo has proved to be a runaway success thanks to an enormous feelgood factor, keen prices and a menu that deals in 'the root and spice of healthy living'. The café exudes its own vibes and there's a Japanese garden and fishpond filled with carp, which adds to the sense of 'Zen with fun'.
Simon and Helen Wong serve up a great assortment of all-in-one bento boxes (a real feast for the eye and the senses), little dumplings, Japanese curries and the like, with a strong vegetarian bias (check out the 'vegan's paradise', which comprises a 'munchie munchie' assortment of tofu, fungi, lotus root, mountain yam and daikon). Also on the menu you might find saké-steamed mussels and the weird-and-wonderful 'mushroom collection' (a treasure trove for mycophiles). To drink there are fresh organic juices, otherwise go for beer and saké.
