Review on Sheesh Mahal
Azram Chaudhry's restaurant next to Yorkshire TV Centre has been doing Leeds proud for a good many years and its popularity shows no sign of waning – judging by the queues.
Much of the cooking has its roots in the Pakistan, a tradition handed down by Azram's mother and father. Karahi dishes and baltis dominate the lengthy menu and there are also several unusual specials including distinctively tangy chicken achaar laced with pickle and gosht palak dahi (lamb with spinach, mint and ginger).
A long line-up of curry house favourites fleshes out the repertoire and tandoori naan bread appears in all manner of guises, stuffed with everything from spinach and cauliflower to minced lamb.
