Review on The Cawdor

A landmark in Llandeilo, the Cawdor occupies a listed 300-year-old building that has played a pivotal role in the history of the town. The dining room still looks much as it did in Georgian times, and a thoroughly traditional mood prevails with panelled walls, a beautiful bay window and a old-style wooden floor. It makes a relaxed setting for cooking with a strong international slant.

To start, expect anything from smoked duck and orange salad to salmon fishcakes with basil and lime aïoli, while mains might feature herb-rolled pork tenderloin with local bacon, Llanboidy cheese and leek risotto or chicken wrapped in Parma ham with tagliatelle. As a finale, try lemon and lime tart or strawberry meringue Pavlova.

In addition to in-house accommodation, the Cawdor now has additional apartments at the Townhouse in nearby King Street.
