Review on Seeds
Mark Seager cooks while Felicity keeps the customers happy in this wonderfully relaxing little bistro occupying the front room of a timber-framed cottage. Local paintings and mementoes from travels abroad are dotted around the cosy, slate-floored dining room, and a log-burning stove is called into service when the weather closes in.
Dinners are fixed-price and there's no beating about the bush for wholesome dishes like smoked mackerel pâté with toasted brioche, roast rack of Welsh lamb with a Dijon and herb crust or steamed breast of chicken with butter beans. Round things off with sticky toffee pudding, crème brûlée or treacle tart. Sunday lunch is listed on a blackboard.
Whenever you visit, be sure to check out the Seagers' remarkable, 160-bin wine list, which is packed with good-quality drinking at refreshingly ungreedy prices.
