Review on La Trattoria
Paolo and Liza Florimonte are big-hearted, ebullient hosts at this self-styled 'family eatery' not far from Talbot Green shopping centre. This is a bright, exuberant and colourful venue, ideally suited to the vibrant regional food on offer.
Pizzas and pasta dishes show up strongly on the extensive menu (look for Neapolitan paccheri with Ricotta, pancetta and peas or calaramata with homemade pesto and shaved Pecorino). Antipasti range from steamed Gower mussels with white wine, tomato and garlic to watercress and mixed beets with St Tola cheese, walnuts and chilli croûtons, while mains could include Tuscan-style rack of salt marsh lamb with lentils and roasted shallots in red wine or baked whole sea bass with butter, lime and capers.
Two-course lunches (including a glass of wine) are a snip for under a tenner, and great-value 'early bird' menus are available from 6.00-7.00pm Tuesday to Friday.
