Review on Dower House Hotel
Hidden away in its own walled grounds some three miles west of Lyme Regis, this converted Victorian rectory has been cleverly transformed into a relaxed, personally run hotel with excellent facilities and fine views over the Axe Valley.
Formal meals are served in the elegantly appointed restaurant, and the kitchen makes good use of home-grown vegetables, free-range meat and fish from the Lyme Bay boats. Expect skilfully handled contemporary dishes along the lines of black pudding pannacotta with Waldorf salad, slow-cooked beef with oxtail, tarragon and morels, plus desserts such as Champagne rhubarb. Simpler food is also available in the hotel's bistro.
