Review on The Living Room
The original branch of a burgeoning group of bars and restaurants with outlets in several major towns and cities, Living Room Deansgate opened its doors in 1999 and remains one of Manchester's top destinations. It defined a house style based on the principles of vibrant atmosphere combined with quality service and casual brasserie-style food.
Menus change with the seasons and there are all kinds of possibilities, from healthy salads like shredded duck with orange and watercress to 'home comforts' in the shape of steak, ale and mushroom pie, classic cheeseburgers, and bangers and mash. Elsewhere, the world is your larder and you can pick anything from roast suckling pig with sage and apple butter to steamed sea bass with lemon grass, soy and baby pak choi greens. Desserts are comforting offerings like Eton mess with mixed berries or warm chocolate fudge cake, and there are additional daytime offerings (until 7pm) in 'the luncheon club'.
There is a high-ranking, flagship branch in Heddon Street, London W1; details of other regional venues are on the company's website.
