Review on The Black Horse Restaurant
A fine-looking one-time coaching inn overlooking Market Bosworth market square, the Black Horse is now run first and foremost as a neighbourhood restaurant. Despite extensive refurbishment it still retains many of its original features, which add to the convivial atmosphere of the place.
Set lunches are great value for dishes such as Italian marinated chicken with couscous and red pesto, while the evening menu promises more ambitious modern ideas with eclectic overtones. Kick off with grilled asparagus and Caesar salad or king prawns with spring onion and sweetcorn fritters, before fillet of sea bass with Champagne and saffron beurre blanc or maple-roasted belly pork with mustard seed and Calvados jus. To finish, try cappuccino truffle torte or 'rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb' (pannacotta, compote and ice cream).
Special 'pie and wine' deals on Monday evening are reckoned to be 'a gem', according to one Mobile Food Guide user. The eminently affordable wine list includes a useful selection by the glass.
