Review on Kitchen at Holmes
The Holmes Hotel is a modern boutique hotel with a delightful restaurant. The restaurant itself is elegant, intimate, stylish and contemporary with designer features, floor to ceiling glass walls and an open plan design with charcoal grill and wok and a mesquite wood oven. Quality ingredients and natural cooking methods bring out a perfect balance of flavour and taste. Ingredients are selected carefully and are free-range or organic.
Starters range from Mesquite wood roasted Portobello mushroom with fresh Parmesan flakes and dandelion to Rocket and sorrel salad with fresh roasted foie gras and toasted walnuts, mains from Slowly braised British lamb shank with "Cannellini" beans, shallots and fresh thyme jus to Asparagus & Cepes risotto, white truffle oil & parmesan flakes. There are some nice vegetarian options and some unusual side dishes. The food presentation is clean and tempting and the staff are lively and friendly.
There is limited off street parking at the hotel but there is an NCP car park at the rear.
