Review on Burleigh Court Hotel
Built as a gentleman's residence during the eighteenth century, this listed Cotswold manor house stands impressively on the edge of a steep hillside overlooking the Golden Valley. As a hotel, it is renowned for its classical style, warmth, elegance and fine food.
Home-grown vegetables and herbs bolster the kitchen's supplies of local produce, and the menus promise a good spread of dishes with a modern accent. Carpaccio of tuna and seared pigeon breast with beetroot, crushed peas and balsamic reduction are typical starters, while mains might range from seared calf's liver with grain mustard mash to grilled fillet of mackerel on smoked haddock risotto. To finish, try caramel pannacotta with roasted plums or a dark chocolate 'teardrop' mousse with Morello cherries.
