Review on Checkers Pantry
The Checkers in Montgomery, a celebrated fine dining restaurant handed back its Michelin star ahead of the ahead of publication of the 2019 edition of the Michelin Guide. A former coaching inn that has been pulling in the crowds since it was taken over by owners Stephane Borie, Sarah Francis and Kathryn Francis in March 2011, they relaunched the restaurant in November 2018 as Checkers Pantry.
Open from early morning kicking off with breakfast and moving on to lunch, drinks and cakes are available throughout the day. Typical offerings on the menu apart from sandwiches are dishes along the lines of confit Gressingham duck salad, paired with pickled blackberries and shallot dressing or smoked haddock and salmon fishcake, lemon dressing and chive mayonnaise. When it comes to puddings you might see sticky toffee pudding served with vanilla ice cream or orange scented panna cotta, compote berries and almond shortbread.
