Review on The Dragon Hotel
You can still see echoes of the past in this striking half-timbered coaching inn overlooking Montgomery's market square: the ancient fireplace was originally a bread oven and a pane of glass is said to have been signed by the local hangman way back in the seventeenth century.
These days, the place functions as a traditional hotel with an equally traditional bar and a welcoming beamed restaurant. Here you can sample a range of international dishes including a salad of Mozzarella, grilled peppers and rocket, braised local lamb shank with leek-scented mash and redcurrant jus, and glazed lemon tart with lemon sorbet.
