Review on Morley Hayes Hotel, Dovecote Restaurant
Originally the farmstead attached to nearby Morley Manor, this family-run complex now incorporates a hotel, several restaurants and parkland golf courses deep in the Derbyshire countryside. It is also a favourite local venue for conferences, weddings and other special events.
The fine dining restaurant is housed in the farmstead's original dovecote (hence the name), and it still boasts original brickwork, a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams. Meat from Derbyshire farms is a big attraction, with typical dishes such as slow-roast free-range belly pork and smoked garlic mash or a duo or Furlong Farm and Little Eaton lamb on offer. Other possibilities might include smoked haddock risotto with poached egg and roast loin of venison with honey-roast parsnips and blackberries, plus desserts such as warm pear and peanut tart with peanut ice cream.
