Review on The Carrington Arms
The Carrington Arms is a family run countryside Inn set in the picturesque village of Mousloe, a short drive from Newport Pagnell and Junction 14 on the M1. An imposing Grade II listed building with cosy interiors that have been carefully restored and refurbished, creating a delightful blend of traditional character and contemporary design. During summer months there is a large garden with parasols for al fresco dining.
The restaurant is well known for its meat and seafood counter with produce carefully sourced from first-rate local suppliers. Lighter options, including sandwiches and classic pub fare is served all day in the Bar. From their a la carte menu choose a starter of cured sea trout, sautéed Jersey Royals, asparagus, Marsh samphire and watercress or maple glazed chicken, bacon crumb, sweetcorn pancakes, sweetcorn puree, tarragon, bacon and maple popcorn. Typical main courses on offer are Pink Oakley lamb saddle, braised lamb, pea and mint tortelloni, sun-blushed plum tomato, shallot puree, Spring vegetables and balsamic or sweet cured mackerel fillet, smoked mackerel rillettes, pickled baby vegetables, confit cherry tomatoes, charred cucumber, buttered Jersey Royals, horseradish emulsion and roasted red pepper sauce. If you prefer you can select your own prime 21 day dry aged steak from the counter as well as the various seafood on offer. To finish diners can enjoy a traditional rhubarb and apple crumble served with custard or their Nuts about Chocolate, chocolate and brown butter ganache, salted peanut mousse, peanut brittle, banana parfait and brown butter puree.
The wine list is an international slate featuring a good spread from across the world with several options available by the glass, as well as local ales from nearby micro breweries.
