Review on Valley Junction 397
Having scored a hit with The Valley in the old station house at Corbridge, Daraz Aziz decided to follow up the railway theme with this second restaurant occupying a converted signal box and carriage (number 397) at Old Jesmond Station.
It’s worth making a beeline for some of the kitchen’s noted specialities including murgh amchur (chicken with mangoes), mangsho pesta ke shadi (topside of beef cooked with mild spices and pistachios) and salmon bahja (fried with fresh herbs, garlic, ginger and raw onions). The menu also has its share of curry-house stalwarts including dhansaks, biryanis and kormas.
If you fancy a real blow-out, go with some friends and order Daraz Aziz’s five-course ‘super dinner’ or the chef’s even more lavish seven-course banquet.
A third branch, Valley Connection 301, is now open by the abbey in Hexham Market Place, Northumberland.
