Review on Electric Diner
Electric Diner part of the Soho House brand of restaurants can be found on Portobello Road, downstairs from the Electric House and adjacent to one of London's oldest cinemas. Featuring a high vaulted ceiling, exposed brick walls, a long bar down one wall with an open kitchen where you can watch the action from the brigade of chefs, and dark red leather booths with wood tables set on the other side.
The restaurant has been opened in partnership with chef and restaurateur Brendan Sodikoff who owns Chicago's award winning Au Cheval. The all-day dining venue serves an French-American style menu showcasing some of Sodikoff's signature dishes such as a fried bologna sandwich. On offer there might be Dijonaise shrimp cocktail or chopped chicken liver, salted butter and toast before a main course of honey-fried chicken, chilli, sesame seeds or sea bass, capers and lemon. To finish you could order a mixed berries and lemon curd pie or the mille-feuille.
There is a concise wine list to complement the food together with an excellent selection of draught and bottles beers, as well as well-priced cocktails such as Hemingway Daiquiri and Horse’s Neck.
