Review on Basmati
Basmati is at the top of the Palma Indian restaurant scene located in the Los Geranios shopping centre with two entrances opposite the Plaza Olivar Market, as well as another two in Calle San Miguel, near Plaza España.
Shahin Awal, with some 20 years experience at the stoves, is the owner and chef of Basmati restaurant. He is an excellent ambassador for Indian food in Palma and offers high quality home-made Indian cooking in a traditional and comfortable environment. The Basmati menu changes every day, so go two days in a row and you will be able to taste a different selection. Look out for Shihan's Peshawar Nan, a bread made with dried fruits, honey, coconut and almonds. It's authentic Indian home cooking using many old 'family' recipes. The 3 course set menu is exceptional value and there is a whole set menu just for vegetarians.
The wine list covers the usual Spanish bases but also doffs its cap to New World wines from South Africa.
