Review on Marc Fosh Restaurant
The first and only British Chef to be awarded a Michelin Star in Spain, Marc Fosh won his gong at Read's Hotel, Santa Maria, before striking out on his own in 2009 and setting up his eponymous uber chic restaurant in the centre of Palma. In 2014 he regained his Michelin Star at Marc Fosh restaurant and well deserved it is. One Mobile Food Guide reader was able to wave the British flag and gain entry to report that "the place was full, lunchtime, mid-week which is a real achievement and, full of locals... we had a splendid meal and he is sensibly running a menu of 27.50 Euros for three courses, with a good, though limited choice; coffee and wine extra. He is a seriously good chef and a very nice guy."
Marc works alongside his Head Chef Toni Martorell to produce a Mediterranean menu where the emphasis is on creating simple but imaginative dishes using fresh, seasonal and local ingredients. Put that formula to the test and the set lunch might include cream soup of leeks with bacon, chives and croutons, fresh salmon with rigatonni, spinach & saffron-lemon sauce rounded off with, perhaps, vanilla panna cotta with red plum sorbet. Things move up a gear on the a la carte menu when the kitchen takes on board dishes like smoked beef salad with peaches, shaved Manchego and rocket leaves, slow cooked guinea fowl with smoked rice, apricot puree and red wine shallots or Romesco crusted lamb rack with ratatouille and marjoram. Amazing desserts could feature chocolate and olive oil truffle with Flor de Sal and raspberry-red pepper jelly or preserved lemon cream with sweet dukkha and a cherry-rosewater sorbet.
A small, sensibly priced, well chosen and regularly changing international wine list is designed to compliment the cuisine without denting the wallet.
