Review on La Fontaine Gaillon
La Fontaine Gaillon is an elegant restaurant in a small square between the Opéra Garnier and the Palais Royal in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. This beautiful restaurant in a handsome 17th century mansion is owned by famous French film star Gérard Depardius. It has a cosy atmosphere with many photographs of Depardius relating to his life and career adorning the walls. In the summer months meals can be taken on the terrace to the sound of water gently lapping in the historic d'Antin fountain.
Menus change frequently to reflect the seasons and the quality and freshness of market availability. Oysters and other shellfish take centre stage on the menu and the langoustine raviolis are a particular favourite of diners. The cellar has some 150 wines, most from small French vineyards, but there are some interlopers from as far afield as Morocco and Sicily.
