Review on La Marlotte
La Marlotte is a traditional neighbourhood restaurant near the Bon Marché in a prestigious residential area in the the 6th arrondissement. It is owned by Giles Ajuelos who has another successful restaurant, the Bastide Odéon in the same district. A velvet curtain covers the entrance and banquettes line both sides of the long main dining room, which is a favourite location for local government minsters and journalists.
The kitchen turns out a good choice of traditional French classics as in foie gras terrine or lentil salad with shallots before main courses of sole meunière or rump steak with pepper sauce. To finish try profiteroles, fruit tart or the crème caramel. Service is friendly and helpful and the sommelier is on hand to help with the all French wine list.
