Review on L'Hotel, Le Restaurant

Le Restaurant, awarded a Michelin star in 2008 is set in the sumptuous boutique hotel, simply called L'Hôtel in St Germain des Prés, a short stroll from the River Seine, the Louvre and Notre Dame. The dining room with a décor designed by famous interior designer Jacques Garcia is dedicated to the illustrious Oscar Wilde, who spent his last days here. It is an opulent affair with plush red velvet armchairs and well laid tables with crisp white linen and opens onto a small internal courtyard.

Julien Montbabut is head chef here having previously worked in Le Restaurant as a Sous Chef in 2008 and more recently honing his culinary skills at the Michelin-starred Pavillon de la Grande Cascade as Executive Sous-Chef. Montbabut offers a seasonal menu featuring classical French cuisine which could feature creative dishes such as Lozère lamb with pumpkin, sweet chestnuts and salsify, and a marinated carpaccio of scallops with caviar. In particular his Dégustation surprise menu with its seven courses is proving to be a very popular dining option. Service here is impeccable and it is a favourite destination for many celebrities, so if you are lucky you could find yourself dining on a table next to Johnny Depp or Robert de Niro!
