Review on Belle House Restaurant & Bar
Belle House is the exciting conversion of a local council building on the main road through Pershore. It's now a stylish modern restaurant and bar decorated in natural shades and fitted out with square tables and wicker chairs; next door there's Belle House Traiteur – a French-style deli selling all kinds of provisions and ready-made meals from the restaurant kitchen.
Chef/proprietor Stephen Waites plunders the local area for Evesham asparagus, Pershore plums and other regional specialities, which show up on his neat monthly fixed-price menus. Influences from France and the Mediterranean loom large, witness dishes such as crab and avocado tian with gazpacho sauce, poached breast of chicken with Brie, creamed leeks and chive sabayon, and slow-cooked beef with potato gratin, a foie gras parcel and red wine jus.
At lunchtime, you can also get some simpler stuff including smoked chicken salad with artichokes and honey-roast ham with minted new potatoes, while desserts might range from glazed lime brûlée with blackcurrant sorbet to Lower Moor raspberries with raspberry ripple ice cream. Reasonably priced wines from around the globe.
