Review on Plockton Inn & Seafood Restaurant
Siblings Mary and Kenny Gollan were born and bred in Plockton and they now run this successful village inn just 100 yards from the harbour. The building was originally a manse, erected for the great-great-grandfather of the family, but now operates as a down-to-earth, all-purpose inn with a liking for fish.
The pub's resident barman lands renowned 'Plockton prawns' (aka langoustines), which find their way into crowd-pleasing seafood extravaganzas; Kenny Gollan also runs his own smokehouse at the back of the inn. As well as cold platters, the menu trawls its way through baked lemon sole with herb butter, Thai mussels, fillet of salmon with orange vinaigrette, and cod with tomatoes, olives and parsley. Meat fans might go for haggis or an Aberdeen Angus beefburger, before desserts like brown sugar meringues with fruit salad or homemade frozen cranachan.
On Tuesday and Thursday evenings, the public bar comes into its own with traditional live music sessions. Real ales, malt whiskies, some decent wines and blazing fires complete the picture.
