Review on La Collina
Real Italian food without gimmicks is making La Collina the talk of Primrose Hill and beyond. Chef/proprietor is Diana Rinaldo who hails from Treviso, Italy where her mother had a bakery and she is ably supported by her partner Patrick Oberto, who very charmingly looks after front of house. Together they have created a sincere and infectiously welcoming set-up serving honest regional cuisine at very approachable prices.
The accent is north Italian - as you might expect from Diana's roots - and there are some really good things on offer. Try calamaretti alla griglia, grilled baby squid with chilli pepper to start before considering the pasta and risottos. Fresh, unadorned flavours are the key, witness main courses of orata al forno, whole sea bream cooked in the oven with lemon and fresh herbs or maybe the Chef's special of rolled rabbit with polenta. To finish there are delicious traditional desserts in the shape of Tiramisù or maybe pannacotta with cherry compote. There is an all-Italian wine list with offerings by the glass to complement the dishes.
